It's Potty Time!

I have been putting this off for a while, but Camdyn needs/wants to be potty trained. She asks me all the time to go "potty". I put her on the toilet.she sits there(forever). nothing happens. she wipes(she saw MK do it, now she thinks she needs to). she flushes. And she thinks she has done a fantastic job! :)
I don't mind that she is not potty trained. She's 19 months so I haven't been in any kind of rush. But we are at the point of no return! I can't keep her clothes or diaper on her. The minute she goes she wants her diaper OFF...and she can do it herself. Which as you can imagine can lead to some undesirable situations. I have avoided anything catastrophic, but probably not for long.
So it's either potty train or duct tape her diaper to her (don't think I don't want to).
Any tips? She wants too, and has a good idea what needs to happen, but can't make it work.

Try to figure out the time of day that she does her business. It will usually be the same time every day - usually. If she wants to learn then catching her at the time right a time or two and she will have it down. If she is dry in the morning put her right on the potty as soon as she wakes up!

My advice and it is what worked for Addie, is that you let her run around naked(while at home, of course). I know it will make a mess sometimes, but it all cleans up. I also put a portable potty in the area where she is playing, so she was always close. Also, I did give her candy, like a jelly bean or m&m when she really did potty. It was a good incentive! Good luck and if she truly is ready, she will fall into the swing of things! Remember it is a BIG step for her!(-: But, oh you will be so happy not to have to change her diapers!!

Oh my word...tell her to come over here and teach Ryder. He runs and screams his head off when I even mention the potty.

I have no advice, that was he hardest thing in the world for MK. The only way we finally got her to poop on the potty was to catch her in action and get her on there so she knew was it felt like.

I'm with your Mom and Katie or better yet just let her follow Duke around outside for awhile. (knew he might come in handy for something) Ha! Our old dog, Gunner potty trained Daniel in St. Johns. Gunner would pee on one side of the tree and a second later Dan would be peeing on the other side, etc.. Ok, so how's that for embarassing Daniel today!!:)The neighbors have never forgotten. It honestly took no time at all!Maybe that explains why Daniel is such an OUTDOORSMAN!!!!

She is a little smarty pants. Just stick with it and try to stay home as much as possible to put her on the potty. We can't wait to see you tomorrow. Get ready for a PAR-TY!

I rewarded Carlyn with M&M's and she's an addict now, so perhaps broccoli would be a better choice. Good luck with that!!!

That picture is hilarious! Justin and I just think she is the cutest. As far as the potty training, good luck. I tried to train Justin and it just isn't working...

Chelsee-
We actually DID use duct tape. Serious.
Taylor could get out of anything --even when we put her zipper jammies on her backwards! Good luck!! :)
